The British Record (rod-caught) Fish Committee has received a claim for the Wels catfish (Silurus glanis) record from captor, Shaun Ing, in respect of a fish claimed at a weight of 150lb, caught on 28th September 2024 from Chigborough Farm and Fisheries, Maldon, Essex.
The BRFC has inspected the claim paperwork together with supporting photographic evidence and is pleased to announce acceptance of the claim, at the weight of 150lb 3oz. This capture will be duly recorded in the British record listing.

The Committee would like to remind readers that in the event of the capture of a potential record fish, the captor should first contact the British Record (rod-caught) Fish Committee without delay.
