Following the success of last years high profile Preston Innovations sponsored UK Angling Championship the event organisation team have now announced the dates for the 2011 series.

The tournament, which operates over 4 rounds and features some of the biggest names in the sport, is proving so popular that two 80 peg eliminator rounds are being scheduled to give more anglers access to what is fast becoming one of the most credible and “must win” matches in the angling calendar.

The 2010 event saw Midlands angler Grant Albutt snatch the crown from what appeared to be a two horse race between England International Darren Cox and UKAC Rookie Pete Bailey. “It was an incredibly exciting series” announced promoter Rob Hughes. “The battle raged through to the last round at Barston where it looked like it was Bailey or Cox that were going to take the honours. However the last day didn’t go their way and the ever consistent Grant Albutt snatched victory took the title with an impressive display of angling”.

The whole series was covered by Sky Sports and televised in the autumn and Rob has already secured the tv contracts for 2011. “The feedback we got from the series was excellent, and to have Sky Sports along to cover the matches was the icing on the cake. 2010 was a great year and I’m sure that 2011 will be even more exciting.  Rob has been working on some extra prizes and we hope to be in a position to announce these in the not too distant future” added event organiser Nigel Harrhy.

The 80 peg matches will be held at four of the UKs top match venues, Lindholme, Colemans Cottage, Woodlands View, and Barston between May and August. The top 40 from last years event automatically qualify for entry in the 2011 event, and the remaining 40 places will be allocated by elimination through two 80 peg qualifiers held at Barston in May.
