Angler Christine Ren Fielding, MD, of New York, USA caught and released this beautiful brown trout (Salmo trutta) while fly fishing the Rio Grand River in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina on March 29th.
Fielding skillfully played the massive 13.6 kg (30 lb) brown for 20 minutes after the fish ate the green scud pattern fly she was casting.
Once landed, the fish was quickly documented, weighed, and then released alive to grow even bigger.
If approved, the catch will earn Dr. Fielding the new women’s 8 kg (16 lb) tippet class record, which is currently vacant.
