South Wales is the place to be for big cod at the moment, as illustrated by the capture of this 33lb fish from just outside Porthcawl Harbour.

The fish was taken by Nick Beale from a private boat. Neal was fishing lugworm, but suspects he probably hooked a whiting which was then snaffled by the specimen cod just 200 yards off the shore.
