As first casts got they can’t come much better than this. Steve Ace is holidaying in Saltstraumen Brygge, at Saltfjorden in Northern Norway and couldn’t wait until morning to get fishing.

The rod arched over in the darkness and he found himself connected to this beast, which put up a brute of a fight in the darkness before Steve was able to bring it to the snow-bound shoreline.

The mighty cod went 40lb 1oz – an absolute beauty. Well done Steve!!
