A 50lb salmon has been reported from Scotland’s River Tweed. The cock fish, the biggest salmon caught anywhere in the UK so far in 2013, was caught on the fly on the Boleside Beat by Shamus Jennings, who is part owner of the stretch with his brother Francis.
The mighty salmon was measured at 50 inches in length with a 33 inch girth – pictures are available on the Fish Tweed website by clicking on the link below this story.
Shamus was boat fishing the Glenmayne Pool with a Boleside Shrimp pattern created only a few weeks earlier. Incredibly Shamus had caught his first ever 25lb salmon in 40 years of fishing for them the day earlier on the same beat. It’s thought it will have been heading to the Ettrick, a tributary of the Tweed.
