Opening day at Ringstead Grange Fishery produced this belting 16lb 4oz rainbow trout to Newport Pagnell angler Mick Watts, who fished a tungsten headed black and green Fritz pattern.

Despite the very cold weather over the weekend anglers braved the harsh conditions particularly on opening day to record an average catch rate of six fish per rod, mainly stock fish averaging 2.25lb to 2.5lb in weight. In all 33 anglers caught 214 fish with Caravan Corner, Lodge Bank and the platforms, Willow Bay and Mill Corner the best areas and Cats Whisker, Black&Green Fritz Damsels, Montana and Gold Head Damsel the most successful patterns….
