Dave Barham heads to Lymington on the south coast of England for the British Cod Championships, a £3,000 two-day event involving some 200 anglers and 25 charter boats, in this made-for-tv programme exclusive to Fishing TV and free to view in the March issue of Sea-Watch Monthly.

He joins the competitors who are confined to the Solent due to high winds. But the area has been fishing really well in the run-up and cod to 20lb start coming onto the decks straight away.
Dave learns how an angler who has had two 30-pounders ties up a special running rig for cod with squid and cuttlefish as bait, before heading back to the ranch to find out who has won the big cash prizes.
Next day Dave is up bright and early again and this time he’s able to head out to the famous Needles mark aboard the charter boat Shogun, and after a run of conger, the big cod switch on and it’s one fish after another. Magic!
