The BAA is urging anglers to inform them of any pending changing to their waterways following two recent incidents they found out about too late.

In the first, a fence was erected alongside the club’s stretch of the River Mease at Netherseal, restricting access. And in the second, land was purchased alongside the River Avon at Lower Moor to be turned into a wild bird sanctuary, again making it difficult for anglers to access the stretch. However, in a third example a BAA a member informed the association about plans to install a turbine at Nafford Weir, a project that could reduce flows by up to 90%, in time for the BAA to campaign against it. Spokesman John Williams said: “Early awareness is key to enable the BAA to have its say and protect our fisheries.”
