The British record for a boat-caught undulate ray has been beaten with the capture of a specimen weighing in at 23lb 8oz.
The fish beats the existing best for the species, which has stood for over 40 years, by over 2lb. Simon Dale was the lucky angler, catching it during a night time fishing trip aboard charter boat ‘Alaminta’ out of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight under the guidance of skipper Bex Florence.
Simon took the record ray from the mid shingles on a flood tide, tempting it with an Ammo Baits joey mackerel.
