The ninth RiverFest Qualifier for 2014 took place on the River Yare at Langley in Norfolk with 55 anglers competing.
With north-westerly gale force winds gusting to 50 miles an hour, the anglers had difficult conditions to contend with resulting in weights being much reduced than the norm.
Although renowned for big bream bags the river was clear and roach were the target of the day.
Overall winner at the end of the match was Mick Vials (Preston Innovations) putting a fantastic bag of roach on the scales weighing 21lbs 10oz, fishing pole tactics with groundbait and caster from permanent peg 145 to the right of Langley Pump.
Joint second overall was Will Freeman (Preston Innovations) from permanent peg 101 and Steve Nadin (Garbolino BMV) from permanent peg 148 both again catching roach on the pole for 15lbs 14oz.
Fourth was John Southgate (Sensas Oakwood) with 14lbs 9oz of pole caught roach from permanent peg 128.
Equal fifth were Stephen Sadler (WB Carr) and Kevin Rowles (Devises MG) with 14lbs 2oz again of pole caught roach.
Many thanks to the three stewards, Mick Burch, Dennis Willis and Tony Gibbons for their efforts along with the staff at the White Horse, Chedgrave for making everyone so welcome.
