Chris Vandervleit used a tactic more associated with winter fishing – called ‘fishing the teabag’- to win the Maver Match This Qualifier at Barston Lakes.
The method involves using a small PVA bag of feed – usually pellets – which dissolves once in the water leaving a small pile of bait next to your hook bait, in Chris’s case a hair rigged 8mm boilie.
Fishing from peg 118, Chris topped the 97-entry field with an excellent 116-10-0, including some very big carp. It was close though, with venue expert James Hawkins just a fish shy with 109-5-0 from peg 21. Chris goes through to the £50,000 Maver Match This final at Larford Lakes.
