Italian angler Dino Ferrari was testing for tackle brand Sportex when he latched into this huge wels catfish on the River Po. The mighty fish measured 2.71 metres and weighed in at 127kg (279.9lb).
The official world catfish record according the IGFA is a fish of 134.9kg (297lb 9oz) caught from the River Po in March 2010 by Attila Zsedely.
However, Dino’s fish could be set a new length record as the fish Attila banked was 2.45m in length. A fish of 2.71m long has been reported from the Po, but not verified.
