Nick Lane has made the national newspaper headlines with this huge thresher shark caught off the Devon coast.
The fish, weighed at 368lb and then returned, was caught during a trip aboard Dan Hawkins charter boat ‘Reel Deal’ and took over and hour to tame during a spectacular fight that saw it leap 20ft out of the water.
If confirmed as a British record, it will beat the long standing thresher best of 323lb caught way back in 1982.
The big shark could not resist a mackerel hook bait and has appeared, among others, in The Sun.
Dan commented: “The thresher shark is very rare in UK waters and the chances of seeing one and hooking it are extremely rare so I feel very privileged to have been involved in one. It is the fish and catch of a lifetime.”
