Unless you are single you are getting to get some serious earache if you prepare hemp in the kitchen due to the almighty smell it makes – and it lasts for ages.
Fear not, the tcf team is here with two alternatives ways of getting your hemp ready that won’t result in your suitcase being on the drive when you get home from your session…
How To Cook Hemp In The Flask
You can cook hemp on the stove, of course, but it makes an almighty stink and is likely to result in you falling out big time with she who must be obeyed. The flask method is ideal, as long as you don’t need to prepare a large amount, and will keep you in the good books.

Step 1 Although it’s not 100 per cent necessary, it’s a good idea to rinse off the dry, uncooked seeds to get rid of the dust. |

Step 2 The night before fishing, simply pour the uncooked hemp into a flask until it’s three-quarters full. The hemp will expand. |

Step 3 Pour in boiling-hot water from a kettle but leave a couple of inches free at the top. Some anglers add sugar at this stage. |

Step 4 You must seal the flask tightly. Now, simply leave the hemp to cook slowly overnight. |

|
Step 5 The next morning, pour the hemp over a sieve and bag up ready for fishing (or freezing). |

|
Step 6 Kept damp in its own juice it should be perfect for feeding. |

How To Prepare Hemp In A Sealed Bucket
This is another method that won’t result in divorce proceedings and is tcf’s choice if you have to prepare more than a pint or so at a time. The keys to the method are using a bucket with a reliable, sealable lid, and getting things started at least a day before you intend to use it.

Step 1 Place the required amount of hemp into the bucket and pour cold water over it well before you need the cooked hemp. |

Step 2 The water needs to cover all the hemp seeds. Now put the bucket to one side and leave to soak. |
|
|
Step 3 Leave overnight, or at least eight hours, to soften up the seeds before draining off all the cold water. |
|
|
Step 4 With the soaked seeds now back in the bucket, pour on enough boiling water to cover them all. |
|
|
Step 5 Seal the lid tightly and leave overnight to allow the hemp to cook slowly. |
|
|
Step 6 By morning the hemp should be perfectly cooked and ready to send your target fish crazy! |
