FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 1/5/11
Last week there were 160 rods who caught 540 fish for an average 3.40.
The best fish of the week was a *16lb rainbow caught by Mr Brian Healey of Coventry who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and took it on a Cats Whisker Lure fished on a sinking line. The fish was the best of an 11 fish catch. Mr G Whittaker of Willenhall fished Diawl Bachs from the bank of Cocks Close and he caught and released nine fish including one estimated at 8lb – 9lb. Michael Lloyd of Coventry took a 7lb rainbow in a four fish catch from a boat on the Great Pool and these came to small Buzzers fished on a floating line. Mr M Docker of Solihull took a 7lb 4oz rainbow whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close with his dad Keith Docker who took fish to 5lb 4oz and they had 20 fish between them on small Lures fished on sinking lines. Steve Roberts of Birmingham caught seven fish to 5lb on small dry Grey Wolfs, showing the diversity of the fishing on offer at the moment.
The fish are spread around most of the pools but usually the banks the wind is blowing on to have been the hotspots and this week the lodge corner and wires bank have been the most productive. On the members’ waters, near the dam walls of Great Pool and Hall Pool have been best.
Top flies are Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, Diawl Bach, P T Nymph, GRHE, Bloodworm, black Buzzer Shipmans Buzzer and Montana Nymph.
