FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 8/5/11
Last week there were 153 rods who caught 474 fish for an average 3.09.
The fishing has been good this week with fish moving all over the pools and the evening rise on Cocks Close has been terrific.
Small dries such as black Gnat, Shipmans Emerger Buzzers and dry Pheasant Tail are all catching well on a floating line. Buzzers, Damsels, GRHE and Diawl Bach are also working well at the moment.
The hotspots have been the wires bank, the high bank and old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close. On the members’ waters, Great Pool has been the best from the middle island down to the dam wall, Hall Pool at the cattle drink and dam wall and Park Meadow in the shallow water on the far side to the middle.
Best fish last week was a 10lb rainbow caught by Andrew Mein of Nuneaton who was fishing the Great Pool from a boat and he took it on a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line. Mr C Howarth caught a 9¾lb rainbow and again from a boat on Great Pool and this took a black Lure. Mike Ravenscroft took eight fish to 5lb from a boat on Hall Pool which came to small Nymphs on a floating line. Robert White of Lapworth fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught five then released a further four including fish to 5lb 12oz on small Buzzers fished on floating lines. Steve Roberts of Birmingham caught 10 fish on dries from a boat on Cocks Close with a Sedge pattern taking all of his fish.
