FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 1/7/12

Last week 98 rods caught 216 fish for an average of 2.20.

The only consolation about the weather is that it is keeping the trout lakes fresh and the fish are still very active.  Cocks Close will be kept open throughout July and we will review the decision to whether to have a summer close down later this month.

Boat anglers are enjoying the best success on Cocks Close with the fished pushing out towards the middle willows and along the wires bank.

Small CDC Emergers, General Wolfe, black Buzzers, Bloodworm, Pheasant Tail and Damsel Nymph have been the best patterns all fished on a floating line.

Harold Pritchett of Nuneaton caught and released the largest fish of the week estimated at 10lb.  This fish along with ten others were caught on a size 18 General Wolfe pattern fished on a floating line, whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close.
George Cooper of Sutton Coldfield caught six fish to 3lb from a boat on Park Meadow pool and these all came to a black Lure.  Steve Gowan of Knowle caught five fish to 4lb from the bank of Cocks Close and these all came to an orange Blob.

On the member’s waters, Park Meadow is fishing best with Corixa, Damsel and Pheasant Tails all accounting for a few fish.  The dam wall area and the far bank are best on here.  The Great Pool was fishing well but the huge amount of water that went through on Thursday has coloured the pool and that does tend to make sport a little trickier but the dam wall area remains the best area.
