Despite blazing sunshine and high water temperatures, this match produced six double figure weights for the 40 competitors in the Tyne leg of RiverFest 2018.
The winner with 19-1-0 was Maver Dynamite star Eddie Bridon who produced an awesome display of pole fishing to catch 180 dace and small chub from his peg on Bywell Road.
Fishing at 13 metres, Eddie tackled his 3ft deep swim with 0.1g and 0.3g rigs. He fed six balls of groundbait laced with loose feed to kick start his peg and caught throughout the match on maggot hookbait.
Runner up was DH Angling/ABC Baits angler Pat Adams, who was on the end peg at the Woodyard. Pat fished stick float and maggot to net 100 dace and a bonus 2.5lb chub.
Third place went to Sensas Nomads angler Martin Challenger with 16-4-0. Martin was pegged on the Forge House run off and had an all dace catch, on waggler and maggot.
Fourth was Stu Bell, Cleveland AC with 15-0-0, fifth was Charlie Burnside, Durham with 10-12-0 and sixth was Brian Rigby, Shakespeare with 10-4-0.
