Jamie Hughes has won the fifth annual Daiwa Pole Fishing Masters at the prolific Tunnel Barn Farm near Warwick.

It took four penalty points to bag the Wirral based rod the top prize – a Daiwa Air Z pole and £3,000 in cash.

Jamie said: “It feels great to get my name on the trophy – this is a festival that I really wanted to win! The standard of angler is phenomenal, and with such great backing from Daiwa it must rank as one of the most prestigious commercial fishing festivals.”

Andy Power took runner up spot, with Danny Grimsey claiming third.

Ninety five anglers took part in the event, with competitors from England, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands travelling to compete. Top weight of the week fell to Jamie Payne who banked a massive 219lb of F1s from Jenny’s Pool.

Event organiser, Tom Scholey said: “This event just goes from strength to strength, both in term of the quality of the field, and the following it recieves on social media. Jamie is a very popular winner – having qualified for every big money final this year, he has now added the Daiwa Pole Fishing Masters to his tally.

In addtion to the main frame, Daiwa got behind a Mystery Pairs event, which saw the top day three performers bag £1,000 each in tackle vouchers.

Plus, there was the Joseph James Law Young Angler Award, a £500 voucher given to the best performing angler aged under 25, who finished outside the main frame. This was won by Sam Collett.
