The Anglers with Disabilities National Championships saw some horrendous conditions at Heronbrook as it rained heavily all day long, however nineteen hardy competitors were rewarded with some good fishing.

Elliot Fay (Matrix) put the disappointment of finishing second last year behind him by smashing the opposition with a great display of feeder fishing to amass a terrific weight of 62.980Kg. This gave him an easy victory to earn him the Championship crown for 2019. Pegged on Island Lake 19, Elliot fished a small method feeder with micros and a red wafter to take mainly carp to 5kg.

Runner up this year was Hodnet AC’s Geoffrey Perkins, also pegged on Island Lake at peg 1, Geoff fished expanders over micros at 8m for a succession of F1s, before switching to meat and corn down the edge to catch more F1s and some bonus carp up to 5kg, weighing 37.725Kg.

Wayne Panting took third place by fishing pellet shallow on just a top kit to take F1s and carp to 4kg for a total of 35.250kg.

The Angling Trust would like to thank Neil Dale and his team at Heronbrook for supporting such a great event. Next year’s match is being hosted by Gold Valley on Saturday 18th July 2020.
