REPORT
The match was fished over both lakes on a cold winter’s day, with thick fog at the start which cleared when the bitterly cold NW wind commenced. It was sunny and bright in the middle before clouding over during the latter stages. The payout was to the overall winner and then to (default) winners of three sections (Lake Two, A and B banks, and Lake Four).
Tony Lamb (pictured, peg 10 on Lake Four) caught all his fish (decent-sized carp) on bomb and bread. He caught a few in the first hour, then had a long spell with very little before a wonderful last hour when he had a fish every cast, to end the match with 62-13 and a clear overall win.
On Lake Two peg A13 (the same peg that he had last week) Andy Findlay again worked his magic with the bomb and corn to winkle out 46-15 of carp to take second place overall, and to win the “A” bank pool.
Darren Hill (A20) was third overall with 32-00 (carp and a few skimmers), which he caught switching methods between feeder, bomb and pole throughout the day, pushing Steve Brindley (Lake Four peg 6), who had 31-15, into fourth place. Steve caught three carp on the rod, one on a pole and maggots plus several silvers, and took the Lake Four pool.
Terry Hill (A10) was fifth with a five carp catch weighing 25-00 taken on bomb and bread/corn, with Paul Reynolds (B13) in sixth overall with a single carp and some skimmers for 18-07, which won the “B” bank pool, just edging out Darren Hill (Terry’s son) whose three carp, all taken on bomb and bread fished towards the island, weighed 15-05 for seventh overall. John Adamson’s three carp on method feeder from Lake Four peg 8, which weighed 15-06, completed the “weighers”, with the remainder making quick exits to avoid the traffic.
