AN AMAZING turnout of 1113 anglers fished in the weekend’s Badger International Open, formally the Shakespeare Open, fished along the East Yorkshire coastline.
Conditions were ideal for the roving match after a heavy blow, and anglers were confident of some decent cod.
So it proved with lots of cod landed, but this match was all about the biggest fish taken.
The lucky angler this time around was Scarborough’s John Huntley, who pocketed a cool £4000 for the heaviest fish prize thanks to a 9lb 11oz 12dr cod.
In second spot was Reckitt SAC’s John Windall of Hull, who fished at Waxholme and landed another fine fish of 9lb 5oz 14dr. That fish was worth £3000.
