The unofficial world match record was broken at Hawkhurst Fishery in Kent on August 13th. Gary Huth weighed in an impressive 526lbs in the five hour 20 peg match. Gary said, “This is a great result in advance of the attempt at the official world record which is to take place in September. At that time, the date of which is still to be confirmed, we will also attempt to bring in the highest weight ever at a 20 peg match.”
Huth has just gained sponsorship by Frenzee, who design and manufacture angling accessories in Mid-Wales, and attributes his success in great part to the kit he used on the day. Gary explains, “I used the Double Frenzee Pole Pot System on the bush at the front then slid the spare pot down the pole filled with Promaster Pro Paste combined with 4mm Scopex Marine Feed Pellets and red maggots.” The line Gary used was a 016 T Force with a size 14 B911 hook and, despite stormy weather with close to gale force winds, he was able to carry on to win. “Brollies were blowing inside out and four poles actually snapped,” he said. “But in the end it turned out to be a very successful and enjoyable day!” The date and venue for the attempt at the official 20 peg world match record will be announced soon.
