Sunday the 16th July 2006 will see Newry Canal hold the ‘Ulster Open’ Coarse Fishing Championships.  The event is being organised and promoted by Newry & Mourne District Council with the help and support from the Loughs Agency and with the local expertise of Mr Oliver McAuley.

The ‘Ulster Open’ was held on Newry Canal last year for the first time in almost 10 years and organisers are confident that it will develop and grow into a successful competition in the Fishing calendar.

1st Prize is a Diawa G8 Pole valued at £1,500, plus numerous other tackle prizes also 100% payout of fees.

Anyone interested in taking part in the competition should call 028 417 52256 to provisionally pre-book their place as limited pegs are available.  Entries are on a first come first served basis, the entry fee is £15.00 and must be paid in cash while registering on the morning of the competition.
