BIG fish ace Lee Jackson has broken the British carp record with ‘Two Tone’ at a new best weight of 61lb 7oz. The fish was first weighed at 61lb 7oz but subsequent checks show they were weiging a little heavy.
As first reported here on Total-Fishing last Friday, Lee tempted the Conningbrook Lake fish on Thursday at 5am and he will be making a record claim.
The capture ends a six year quest for Chatham angler Lee, who tempted the beast from the 20 acre venue’s Island swim with a single grain of maize fished on on a long hair over a PVA bag of liquidised bread, caster and corn.
Lee used a size 8 Kamasan B725 hook, 15lb Kryston Mantis Gold hook length with the last half an inch pelled back, and 15lb Daiwa Sensor mainline, using a Fahtom leader above the Korda lead to keep it pinned to the bottom.
Only three weeks ago, Sidcup, Kent angler Brett White just missed on breaking the British carp record with the same Mid Kent Fisheries’ carp at 60lb 9oz. Brett caught Two Tone from the well known Joe’s Point swim just a rod length out, again on corn.
Two Tone is the current record in waiting at 61lb and Lee’s catch also tops the current British record of 59lb 12oz.
