Report:
Makins Thursday Kobra Affordable Open on Lagoon (Phase 2) was dominated by 2 carp weights, and in general the roach failed to show in the numbers of previous weeks.

JK Tackle’s Mick Timson made it two wins in successive days with 53 lb 2 oz from peg 15.  After a slow first hour on straight bomb, a change to a small cage feeder brought immediate response, and baiting with corn Mick caught carp from 1½ to 4 lb at regular intervals for the remainder of the match. In contrast, Danny Ross (Wykin AC) found straight lead and corn worked well.  His 44 lb 12 oz second placed weight from peg 22 consisted of several fish in the 5 to 8 lb bracket.  Sensas ace Shane Sayers took third spot with 21 lb 12 oz of roach taken on pole fished caster.

MAKINS WEDNESDAY ‘KOBRA’ AFFORDABLE OPEN 21st January 2009

Report:
After heavy rain and a sharp overnight frost, carp on Lake 2 at Makins were loath to feed and only three anglers weighed in.

Top weight fell to Mick Timson (JK Tackle) whose 4 carp from peg A20, taken on corn presented on straight lead close to the boom, weighed 19 lb 8 oz (photograph attached – Mick Timson with his 4 carp winning catch).

Runner up Eddie Keene (Coventry) also fished straight lead but baited with cheese for his 3 carp catch weighing 19 lb 2 oz from peg A15.  Tony Lamb (Jaguar) had one bream of 3 lb 2 oz for third from peg B12.  He landed this and lost two big carp on maggot presented on waggler.
