REPORT
Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society’s 12th match of the 2009/10 Championship was fished on the Match Pool at Riddings. A brisk SW wind brought a real mixture of weather (sun, rain and cloud) but this failed to put the fish off and good catches were made all round the lake.
Past Champion Paul Richardson made a move towards the top of the league with an excellent win, and is now only 10 points behind the current leader Carl Hendrick (yet to win the Championship), while last year’s Champion, Dave Kent dropped into fourth place behind junior angler Jake Hemmings.
Paul Richardson won the match with 65 lb 8 oz of carp, with fish to 8 lb falling to bread presented on straight bomb from peg 17. In contrast, second placed Joe Cooper (peg 12) only caught 6 fish for his 43 lb 8 oz, all falling late in the match to worm fished down the margin. Third placed Mick Lager (41 lb 8 oz from peg 16) and fourth placed Jake Hemmings (39 lb from peg 5) caught similarly, while Steve Wilcock (37 lb from peg 9) caught on bread fished with bread in a feeder.
With 6 matches to go, the top 10 contenders for the LEVAS Championship are now: Carl Henrick 157; Paul Richardson 147; Jake Hemmings 130; Dave Kent 129; Brian Leafe 128; John Adamson 123; Malc Munn 109; Mick Lager 109; Ivan Carrier 91; Steve Wilcock 88.
