The West Midlander at the centre of a record zander claim has now witnessed the biggest pike of the season – a 40lb whopper.
Mick Dolan, who has put in a claim for a 22lb zander boated at Grafham water was bank fishing with pal Andy Charmer at Chew Reservoir and landed the 40lb 8oz specimen – the biggest ever landed on a bait at the famous venue.
Andy was fishing only 30 metres out at Walley Bank with a legered sardine on a running rig. The big female fish was the highlight of a fantastic week of pike fishing that saw countless 20-pounders and six ‘thirties’ landed.
