Bruce lands final qualifying place in the Fish ‘O’ Mania grand final line up of 2014
As always the fabulous Garbolino Lindholme Lakes Fishery near Doncaster hosted the 16th and final qualifier of the 2014 Fish ‘O’Mania campaign on Wednesday 25th June. It did not disappoint with six anglers clocking a “ton” and another six weighing over 90 lbs. To really emphasise the point only three of the 30 ten-peg sections were won with less than 60 lbs.
Bonsai Pool is always the fancied draw, although Beeches and the new Pool, Bennys, were both seen as being capable of producing some match winning weights. In the event things went pretty well as anticipated with Bonsai producing the top three weights, but it was close.
The winner on Bonsai 40 was Liverpool joiner, Alan Bruce who caught carp and F1’s on paste throughout the day to finish with 124 lbs 10 ozs. His biggest carp nudged 8 lbs. Barely one F1 behind was Les Marshall from Barnsley. Les was on Bonsai 27 and took F1’s and some carp to 5 lbs fishing the bomb and pellet to record an excellent 122 lbs 14 ozs.
Third spot went to Andrew Morley on Bonsai 36. Andrew also opted to use bomb and pellet and although catching a smaller stamp of fish took 118 lbs 12 ozs to the scales. Grimsby angler, Marc Roger, captured fourth place with 112 lbs 3 ozs of carp to 10 lbs from peg 17 on Beeches Pool. Bonsai came up again producing 107 lbs 6 ozs for fifth placed angler, Joe Kent. The 18 year old took carp to 7 lbs shallow on pellet. Carl Slack completed the main prize list with 105 lbs 15 ozs from Beeches peg 10.
The line up for the grand final on Saturday 12th July at Cudmore Fisheries, Whitmore, Newcastle Under Lyme and joining Alan Bruce are; Kevin Dicks (Viaduct), Perry Stone (Preston Innovation Boldings), Adam Rumble (Makins Fishery), David Burley (Hayfield Lakes), Pemb Wrighting (Gold Valley Lakes), Andrew Geldart (Maver Larford Lakes), Ashley Price (Tunnel Barn Farm), Daniel Brydon (Monk Lakes), Steve Cooke (The Oaks), Kieron Rich (Barford Lakes), Gary Bull (Colemans Cottage), Raymond King (Hallcroft Fisheries), Shaun Cooke (Partridge Lakes), Andy Power (Woodlands View), and Jamie Hughes (Woodlands Lakes).
