A field of 79 anglers pitted themselves against turbulent weather in the latest round of Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifying at Barford Lakes. Heavy overnight rain made for tricky conditions early doors but the results couldn’t have been closer.
First place on the day went to Oakham angler Andy Adams with an impressive 104lbs 11oz. Andy drew peg 5 on Top Lake and fished hard all day at 16 metres, catching carp to 11lbs up in the water on pellet.
Taking the runners up spot was Stewart Bracey from Bury St Edmunds, who amassed 98lbs 9oz over the five hours. Stewart drew Willow Lake peg 23 and caught a mixed net of F1’s and carp on chopped worm and caster.
Third was Adam Southgate who travelled up from Bishops Stortford. Adam drew peg 2 on Railway Lake and also caught F1’s and carp on worm, this time over groundbait for his 92lbs 1oz.
Fourth spot went to Matthew Arnold with 91lbs 6oz from peg 2 on Top Lake and completing the top five was Keith Pearson who caught 87lbs 14oz from peg 29 on Pleasure Lake.
A huge thanks to Sarah and her team at Barford for hosting the qualifier. Our next qualifier is at Partridge Lakes on the 19th April. As usual there may be some tickets available on the day for Angling Trust members, so please make yourself known to Bob Dyer on the morning.
