Andy Power from Somerset led the way in the latest Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier at the prolific West Midlands venue, Woodland View Fishery on Saturday, 8th April.
Fishing for Preston Innovations, Andy drew peg 25 on Front Deans near the middle of the lake and amassed a brilliant winning weight of 156lbs.
Andy said: “I had a slow first couple of hours before I really started to catch shallow on pellets on the pole at 14 metres. I fed 4mm fishery pellets 18 inch deep, with a 4 x12 Preston shallow float, 11 hollo elastic. This got better and better as the match went on.
“I also caught a few on the pellet waggler catching around 20 fish, including some up to 14lb. Woodland View seems to be a lucky venue for me, this will be my fifth final and third time qualifiying from Woodlands View. Hopefully, I can be lucky in the final.”
Runner-up was Dan Squire (Sensas) from Somerset who drew peg 62 on Back Deans. He also caught carp throughout the day fishing shallow on casters to finish with 111lbs 2oz. In third place was Dale Stones (Wades Tackle) from Peterborough. Dale drew peg 18 Front Deans and caught carp fishing shallow on pellets. He took 109lbs 12oz to the scales.

1. A Power 156lbs
2: D Squire 111lbs 2oz
3: D Stones 109lbs 12oz
4: M Williams 103lbs 2oz
5: B Lockwood 101lbs 12oz
