Angels Christmas- Story10K Tags Maver K47 Pole Winner
Jim Walker is a Winner of the 10K tags Angling Competition and won a Maver K47 Pole worth £2100.00 and what a great story to tell about him,
Jim had an industrial accident in 1983 prior to this was a very keen and regular angler, he had severe spinal damage in the accident and underwent spinal fusion, which was not successful & Jim ended up in a wheelchair.
Jim got rid of all his fishing equipment as he was now very disabled
He experienced severe pain for some length of time and his wife (now his carer) found him unconscious one day on the kitchen floor, Jim was rushed into hospital and it was discovered the first spinal fusion has SNAPPED! After lots of pain and anguish in hospital Jim had to have a second spinal fusion
In May 2005 when Angel of the North Fishing Lakes Opened Jim saw an advert for the lakes and that it had full disabled facilities and he had a friend David Eadie who offered to assist Jim to see if he could get back into fishing, David started to bring Jim to Angel Lakes and assist him to set up and fish, which Jim managed to do with David’s help, Jim and David are regular anglers now almost every Sunday at Angel Lakes you will find them on Lookout lake
So all in all a great winner especially with his background story!!!!
