Ireland’s River Screebe has produced its biggest reported salmon for 130 years in the shape of this 22.1lb fish taken at the Salmon Pool by Patrick Delapp.
It was the first salmon of the year from the Galway waterway and was in magnificent condition. Patrick has since banked a couple of grilse from the salmon pool.
The area has been producing good sport with a group of three German anglers having plenty of takes on Screebe Lakes with six sea trout and 18 brown trout up to 2.5lb. They also hooked three salmon; but all three proved too strong.
