Probably one of the longest-ever partnerships between a sponsored angler and a fishing-tackle manufacturer will shortly come to an end. Bob Nudd and Browning will end their association on April 30th, 2008, after more than 28 years of extraordinarily productive teamwork.
Zebco Sports Europe GmbH’s marketing manager Frerk Petersen stated: “All along it was unimaginable that Bob one day would break new ground beyond the Browning world, but we must accept that after such a long relationship he feels that it is time for a new challenge.”
Robert James Nudd is one of the most successful coarse fishermen in the world, and during his long career in the renowned burgundy colours has gained victory in numerous championships, including four individual World Championship golds and seven team World Championships with Team England. Throughout, Bob has stood out with his characteristic white cap adorned with the Browning buck head.
Bob’s lifetime has been dedicated to his fishing. He has produced a full library of angling videos and DVDs that many anglers and aspiring anglers will continue to benefit from. With numerous products being developed and then signed off with Bob’s personal approval, Browning is sure his presence will remain with the company and anglers for a long time. Bob’s sympathetic nature and willingness to offer advice and tips to all has created countless followers over the decades, all in admiration of his ability. After such a long relationship with a brand, Bob will almost certainly be associated with the Browning name, no matter where his next venture will take him.
Frerk Petersen continued: “We wish Bob Nudd all the best for the future and thank him for the great partnership. Naturally, we regret his decision but the future is important to us now and we cannot dwell on the past in this competitive industry. As one door closes others open, and this departure will provide opportunities for new faces to prove their ability.”
Total-Fishing.com’s Gareth Purnell, who has just completed two new DVDs with Bob entitles My Way With The Pole which should be available at the TCF Showcase at the end of April, commented: “I had lunch with Bob last week and although he is very excited about his new move he remained tight lips about where he’s going, although in my view it won’t take a genius to guess.”
