Anglers have been flocking to Packington Somers Fishery at Meriden, with Geary’s Lake fishing particularly well for carp at the moment.
Best techniques are pellet Method or groundbait feeder Method, with banded pellet or luncheon meat on the hook, with some big fish to over 20lb showing too.
Also worth trying is bread. Venue regular, Birmingham’s Ken Pearce, had no less than 46 carp in a single afternoon and evening session, plus some bream and tench, fishing bread on the bottom.
Packington has stocked a lot of F1 carp into Little Geary’s and Molands over the winter, while Molands and Geary’s have been stocked with 450 carp each to 11lb, the first time venue manager John Birchill has added carp since the venue was struck with KHV in 2007.
The third episode of OnlineFishing.tv’s ‘Match TV’ series will be filmed at Packington in late June, with the cameras following the course of a five-hour open match with Fox angler Derek Willan.
