Greg Iszatt’s magnificent 66lb golden mahseer, caught last month from the Mahakali River in India, looks set to be accepted as the new IGFA world record for the species.
The Brit was fishing the fast-moving river using trout for bait, and needed 25 minutes to land the mighty fish.
Once subdued, the fish was quickly documented, weighed in a sling, and released alive. The current IGFA world record is 19.96 kg (44 lb).
