THE Second International Shark Tournament between the Brits vs. the Yanks was held in Montauk, New York on June 22-24, 2004.  
The British anglers outscored the Yanks and won the beautiful and coveted Sloan Shark Cup designed by copper sculptor Hanes Hoffman. Both sides scored a combined total of 244,050 points over this 3-day tag and release event.  This amounts to roughly 1,007 sharks–a testament to the great fisheries around Montauk.  
Some 839 sharks were successfully hooked and released. Of these, 817 were blues, 17 were makos, and five threshers. There were three timeouts and 165 hookups. All sharks were released alive.  
The competition was serious and intense but there was great camaraderie and friendships were made.  ast year, the Yanks won the tournament by a narrow 450 points. This year, the British team returned hungry and won by a margin of 7,550 points.  
All in all, a great time was enjoyed by all and both teams look forward to next year’s tournament.  Prizes were awarded to the top anglers and boats and funds raised from this event were donated to support skin cancer research.
