Britain has a new contender for the carp record in the shape of this 60lb 2oz mirror from Holme Fen Fishery in Cambridgeshire.
The venue record came from the fishery’s 26-acre Meadows Lake and fell to the rod of Market Harborough angler Zack Barrett, who fished from the beach swim with a CC Moore Northern Special wafter over an area he’d spodded around 100 metres out.
The fish, which goes by the name ‘Captain Jack’, is not quite a county record – that mantel is held by a 64lb 2oz fish from Bluebell Fishery near Tansor, according to Carp Talk.
But it’s growing at a healthy rate and could yet threaten the British best of 67lb 8oz from Conninbrook Lake near Ashford in Kent.
