With the previously unfished Woodcocks length being pegged alongside the more commonly used section at Odder, nobody was sure what to expect for the first round of this popular series.
As it turned out, fish showed up right along the match length in what turned out to be one of the best matches that the Fossdyke has seen in recent years.
Winner on the day was Maver Bait Tech rod Chris Jenkinson. He backed up five good perch from his lobworm line with a tidy net of roach that he caught presenting a single bloodworm over a bed of groundbait
and joker.
Second placed Glenn Lawrence also found roach on bloodworm, taking over 200 fish from one line fished at nine metres.
Although the majority of the money places were taken by anglers drawn at Woodcocks, the Odder section also proved consistent. There were plenty of big perch caught on lobworm tactics, as well as a surprise tench taken by Phil Turner!
The next round is taking place on the 19th November, and though the matches are being run as a league, anglers are welcome to fish any of the five remaining matches in the series as an open.
