The first round of this league was a close affair. Geoff Bennett fishing for Dogshead had 29-5-0 of skimmers from Moat island peg 40 catching on pellet at

11 and 13m.

2  Avo, Tigra Green, 26-13-0

Not far behind was Avo fishing for Tigra Green with 26-13-0 of mainly skimmers to pellet and meat from Bridge.

3  N Speed, Hallcroft Select, 25-13-0

Third was Nick Speed with 25-13-0 of skimmers from Reed fishing meat at 13m.

1 J Masson, Maver BCUK, 81-2-0; peg island 4 Jamie Masson just pipped Phil Morgan to the post in this Monday match. Jamie fished paste at 11m from the island peg 4 to catch carp to 6lb throughout the day.

2 P Morgan, Triana North, 80-12-0; peg outer 51 Phil, pegged 51 on the outer, just missed the win by 1lb using pellet and meat at 12m for carp to 7lb.

3 P Cooper, Hallcroft, 73-14-0; peg island 10 Pete Cooper fished corn, pellet and paste at 6 and 10m for carp to 8lb.

1 J Masson, Maver BCUK, 93-6-0; peg outer 11 Jamie Masson, peg outer 11, waited to the last hour to start catching and landed 15 carp for 93-6-0.

2 A Payling, Peg One, 65-8-0; peg outer 8 Arnie Payling, also on the outer,  fished pellet and corn at 10m for a mixed net of carp and skimmers.

3 S Robbins, Leegem, 48-12-0; peg island 26 Steve Robbins caught carp to 6lb fishing pellet at 7m and in the margins.

1 J Simms, Hallcroft, 35-14-0; peg 26

A heavy frost slowed sport down for this latest Veteran’s match. Leading the way was Joe Simms on peg 26. Joe fished pellet at 11m for 8 carp, a few

skimmers and the win.      

2 G Bennett, Peg One BCUK, 31-12-0; peg 69 Geoff fished similarly to Joe but used caster and pellet for his catch of 31-12-0.

3 R Paterson, Richards Bedroom Supplies, 28-14-0; peg 23 Richard fished maggot feeder and pellet on the pole for carp and skimmers.

4 A Payling, Peg One, 19-15-0;        5 D Clegg, Britannia, 18-12-0;

1 D Oldham, Hallcroft, 36-9-0; peg 13

Another heavy frost made conditions hard. Daz Oldham just edged out his brother, Andy, by a mere 9oz. Fishing pellet and caster at 12m Daz caught carp and skimmers for 36-9-0.

2 A Oldham, Maver, 36-0-0; peg 22

Andy used similar tactics for a 36-0-0 mixed net.

3 S Clark, Mansfield Sensas, 21-1-0; peg 25 Steve Clarke was third with 21-1-0.
