Weston Pools was yet another sell out for the nineteenth round of FishOMania 2020 qualification and as usual many fancied the Clay Pit for producing the match winning weight. However, as often can be the case in big qualifiers, a different lake threw up the champion, that being Stretton.
Runaway winner on the day and making his first appearance at the tender age of only 20, is Rob Swann. Having drawn end peg 2 on Stretton, Rob made no mistakes and raced away into an early lead catching carp across on casters. Whilst he was fishing across rob had been priming a short line with 8mm pellets, which he’s dropped on for the last 2 hours and caught a further 100lb of carp for an impressive 180lb 4oz. Rob Commented ‘I’m absolutely over the moon to make it to the final’.
FishO regular Adam Richards was second on the day from Canal peg 42. Adam started the match by putting around 50lb of ide together and followed this with some F1s shallow on the same line, and then some edge carp late on for 122lb even.
Last man on the podium was the ever-consistent Kieran Marsden. Kieran drew Clay Pit peg 17 and caught well on casters shallow to start. After this faded a switch to maggots short saw him land some proper carp in his 119lb 8oz.
Thanks once more to Richard and the team at Weston Pools for another fantastic match and to our organiser Dave Watkins.
