Swindon Angler Frank Donachie Nets Winning Weight at Tunnel Barn Farm
Bitterly cold winds didn’t affect the fishing too much for the 149 competitors taking part in the Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier at Tunnel Barn Farm, Shrewley on Saturday 2nd May 2015.
There was a very close finish with just 14 ozs separating the top 2 with 4 ton plus weights and the lowest 10 peg section winner at 56 lbs 13 oz.
Winner Frank Donachie representing Colmic Airon, caught almost from the first whistle at Canal peg 1 where he had F1’s and carp to 5 lbs fishing meat shallow and down the edge to finish with 124 lbs 12 ozs
Runner up Ben Townsend from Peterborough fished meat to the island and caster shallow to net carp to 7 lbs and F1s, for his 23 lbs 14 oz net from peg 5 on club pool.
Third place went to Andy Power (Preston Innovations) a former finalist fishing peg 8 on canal pool, where he netted 113 lbs of F1s fishing casters shallow. Around the middle of the match word was that Andy was emptying it and looked to be the likely winner.
The Angling Trust would like to thank Mike, Sarah and the rest of the team at Tunnel Barn for their help in running this match.
The next Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier heads to Monk Lakes Fishery at Tonbridge, Kent on Wednesday 6th May.
