Atherstone angler Ade Taylor took the biggest fish of the week at Packington Trout Fishery – a fine 13lb rainbow trout that fell from the bank on a Cat’s Whisker lure and an intermediate line on Cocks Close.
There were several other stand-out catches to Midlanders in the last week. Phil Nott’s six-fish catch on Park Meadow also fell to a Cat’s Whisker, this time fished from a boat – a method that also produced ten including one at 4lb to B Symonds. Frank Finlan also had five fish, this time to GRHE nymphs fished on a floating line on Cocks Close. Generally all the pools are fishing well with lots of fish around 3lb coming out. The high bank of Cocks Close is still the hotspot on that pool and Great Pool is best from the jetty down to the shallow water. Best patterns are Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, orange Fritz, Appetizer, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach, GRHE and black Buzzer.
Boat fishing has finished for the season at Ravensthorpe and permits are on sale at the green vendor hut to fish the bank for trout only. Half Day permits (1 fish) are valid all day until 31 December £16.
