The 2008 World Nations Championships take place next weekend on 6th and 7th September in Italy where a strong Drennan Team England will be looking to bring back the team gold medal.
The venue itself will be a 2.2kn stretch of the Spinadesco Canal with anglers fishing from Ponte Caselli to Ponte Cavatigozzi in Cremona, Northern Italy.
Like all the internationals this year the competition for medals will be extremely tough and with Italy fishing on their home waters, they will be a difficult team to beat. However, the squad which travels to Italy will be hugely experienced and with England star Alan Scotthorne looking to add to his world titles, there is always a chance.
The team travelling to Italy will be Alan Scotthorne, Steve Gardener, Stuart Conroy, Sean Ashby, Will Raison and Desmond Shipp. The team will be managed over the weekend by Joint Drennan England Team managers Mark Downes and Mark Addy.
Dick Clegg, NFA International Events Director adds, “Mark Downes and Mark Addy have done an excellent job as team managers and with this experienced squad selection I expect the team to do extremely well this summer.”
