Blustery but sunny conditions greeted the 125 anglers in the latest Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifying match at Norfolk’s Barford Lakes on Saturday 16th May 2015.
General thoughts were that the winner would come from either Match, Top or Pleasure lakes at the complex, and that the 3 lakes of Railway, Willow and Colton would be hard going.
Those thoughts turned out to be correct…
Winner Eddie Green (Prime Angling) made his long trek from Worthing worthwhile when his 6 year old son Denny drew peg 26 on Match lake for him. Eddie fished worm in the margins all day to land a steady stream of carp to 13 lbs for his winning net of 146 lb 3 ozs.
Former Champion Warren Martin (Matrix/Van Den Eynde) drew peg 8 on the Match lake almost opposite to the winner.
Warren fished pole shallow with pellets and worm and caster down the edge to push Eddie right to the final whistle with 141 lb 5 oz which included carp to 14 lb in the net.
In third place was Wayne Taylor fishing under the Mainline Baits and Hastings Angling Centre banner who drew favoured corner peg 30 on Match Lake and fished method feeder then later, pole in the margins, to finish with 117 lb10 ozs of carp & F1’s.
4th Sam Collett 109 lb 5 oz Peg 29 on Pleasure Lake
5th Matthew Marshall 107 lb7 oz Peg 4 Top Lake
6th Jason Jones 104 lb 10 oz Peg 10 Match Lake
Angling Trust would like to thank Sarah Thompson and all the staff at Barford for their help in running this match.
Boldings Pools in Bridgnorth will play host to the next Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier on 27th May.
