European Boat Championships
England A beat the home nation Norway to take gold in the 16 team European Boat Championships fished off Stavanger, Norway at the weekend.
The team of Jim Whippy, Bob King, Ray Barron, Richard Russell and Steve Riley dropped just 24 points out of a possible 1200 over the three day event, knocking Norway B into the silver medal slot with Sweden A taking the bronze. It’s the first time England have won a medal in the event.
England also had the individual gold medal winner in the shape of Bob King, who became the first angler to win the European Light Line Championship and European Boat Championship in the same year.
Wales rod Phil Lustig was happy after taking the bronze medal, with Ireland finishing in a strong fifth position overall.
