This qualifier is a new concept, which sees one angler Under 22, and one angler over 22 qualify for the Evesham Championship Final. There is also a prize for the best lady angler.

Winning the match, and qualifying for the final in the over 22’s category, was Gary Seadon. Drawn on peg 16, Gary had a tough match struggling against a challenging wind, so decided to spend the last hour looking for a barbel. Luckily, with just half an hour of the match to go, his bomb and pellet approach paid dividends, and an 11lb barbel was his reward. The fish gave him a 12-7-0 total – enough for a comfortable win.

Second on the day from the peg next to Gary was James Wilson. James also managed a late barbel for 11-2-0.

Winner of the Under 22 category was local angler, Liam Dennick. Drawn on peg 32, Liam also managed a late barbel on bomb and pellet to finish with 7-6-0, and win a place in the Evesham Championship Final.

Marina Sylvester won the ladies category, with 6-12-0 from peg 58, thanks in no small part to a good tench caught down the edge.
