The superb Fox Match Tameside Junior and Intermediate Teams have performed brilliantly in the recent National Federation of Anglers Junior National Championships.
The team took gold in the intermediate match and silver in the junior event, fished on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal.
Team manager, Ian Bayley, said: “As a team we put a lot of time into practising for this event with five visits to the venue. The team plan was to fish squatt at 12 metres and chopped worm and casters at 14 metres for any bonus fish. It worked perfectly for both teams.”
Fox Match Tameside had two junior anglers finish in the top eight overall, which means they now qualify for the Junior Fish ‘O’ Mania contest on July 19. September will see the squads fish in the National Junior Angling Associations National event on the Kennet and Avon canal.
