Kidderminster’s Woodside Fishery has produced one of the biggest perch ever landed in a match in the shape of a 5lb 4oz specimen. The magnificent fish was taken by David Prior during a Central Trains Angling Club event.
After drawing peg 12 on the Island Pool, David (52) fed chopped worm and caster – the fish taking his whole worm hook bait offering. The peg proceeded to produce a string of big perch including another eight over 3lb. His 51-8-0 total also included carp and tench.
There can be no doubt about the weight of the big fish because it was weighed on match scales and indeed the four-lake venue has a growing reputation for producing specimen perch. Both Island and Woodside Pool have been producing numbers of big fish this season. Venue owner Jane Hughes said that a fish around 4lb had been caught on Woodside Pool on the same day.
